Location
Glasnock House is situated in a beautiful and peaceful location on the Lochcarron Estate, Ross-shire in the Scottish Highlands, less than a 2 hour drive away from Inverness Airport, with the Applecross Peninsula 45 minutes away.
The 1 km private track leading to Glasnock House must be driven with care – a 4×4 vehicle is preferable but not essential (depending the time of year!)
Directions from Inverness
Take A9 towards Dingwall over Kessock Bridge. 1st roundabout take A835 towards Ullapool.
2nd roundabout continue on A835.
Just beyond Garve turn left on A832.
After 16 miles reach Achnasheen. Then take one of the following 2 options (Option A is slightly shorter, but Option B is more scenic!)
OPTION A
Go Left on A890, becoming the A896 through Lochcarron to Kishorn. Drive on through Kishorn (past the Seafood Bar). Carry on for approx 6 miles (directly past the Applecross junction and on past the big White house in the trees). Glasnock is on the right side of the road approx 1km after the big white house (Couldoran House), there is a Glasnock sign at the top of the track and the house is visible, down by the Loch.
OPTION B
Continue on A832 to Kinlochewe. Turn left on A896 past Torridon and Shieldaig.
Approx 8 miles south of Shieldaig you will see Glasnock house down by the Loch on the left side of the road. Glasnock house sign at top of track.
There are now a number of cheap flights to Inverness from various regional airports. Trains from Inverness can be met at Strathcarron Station.
Directions from Fort William
A82 to Spean Bridge.
Turn left on A82 to Invergarry.
Left on A87 to Invergarry.
Left on A87 to Dornie.
1.5 mls turn right on A890 to Strathcarron.
Shortly after level crossing go left on A896 to Lochcarron then continue as A) above.
